Oh and I'm using the Debian Squeeze 19-04 version on an PNY 8gb sd, which I needed to extend the partition using gparted:

Yey, turned off "force updates" and it works perfectly. Good job I didn't bin the Pi in frustration

Well I managed to get GIMX running on the Raspberry Pi..... Just; there is at least a 7 second delay between key press and the PS3 registering it. Denied
